If the surgery is very busy, you may be asked to discuss your condition with the doctor so its urgency can be assessed At Stretham patients are seen on a 'first come, first served1 basis. It may be advisable to speak to Haddenham surgery first to ensure that the correct records are available. Some examinations are more suitable for Haddenham surgery. If in doubt, please check first. IF YOU CANNOT KEEP YOUR APPOINTMENT, PLEASE CANCEL IT SOMEONE ELSE MAY NEED IT Latecomers will be seen at the discretion of the doctor or nurse - you may be asked to wait or rebook HOME VISITS You are requested to phone for these before 9.00am, if possible. This enables the doctor to plan visits efficiently and give you a better service. Home visits are done on the basis of medical need. Those who are infirm or seriously ill will continue to receive visits on request. Those whom the doctor considers fit to travel to the surgery will be asked to do so - four patients can be seen in surgery for every home visit. OUT OF HOURS Telephone 01353 740205 You will be put through to the Out of Hours service Between the hours of 6.00pm and 8.00am Monday to Friday and from 6.00pm Friday until 8.00am Monday, calls are covered by the East Cambridgeshire and Fenland Primary Care Trust out of hours provider. Advice will be offered by a nurse or doctor and should a consultation be considered necessary, the patient will be asked to attend the local Primary Care Centre at either the Princess of Wales Hospital, Lynn Road, Ely or another place to be decided. Home visits will be carried out by a Health Care Professional if necessary. An alternative is to call NHS Direct for advice on 0845 4647 TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS If you have a problem which you think can be dealt with by telephone, it may be possible to speak to a doctor or nurse. It is helpful if you speak first to one of the reception team who will ask you to call back at a suitable time. If you can give the receptionist an idea of the problem, it will help us find you the most appropriate aid.
